As a Big Data DevOps Engineer you will join the team which is responsible for the Infrastructure and Big Data platform that powers our cutting-edge Business Intelligence platform. You will use the latest technology and tools such as AWS, Ansible, Terraform and Hortonworks HDP to deploy, manage and monitor our existing BI platform and to help us scale as we move into new markets.
This role would suit an experienced Linux Systems Engineer with experience of both Cloud technologies and Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform. The focus of the role will be to ensure that our Cloud infrastructure, our Big Data platform and our ETL pipelines are rock-solid, well-maintained and highly-secure.
4+ years experience of Linux system engineering
Expert knowledge of Linux including security, hardening and performance tuning
Strong scripting skills in Bash and Python
Experience of Public Cloud infrastructure (ideally AWS)
Experience of or exposure to Hortonworks HDP or another Hadoop variant would be an advantage
Good understanding of network fundamentals such as firewalling, subnetting, routing and load-balancing
Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform or Cloud Formation
Experience with Configuration Management tools such as Ansible and Chef
Must be able to identify problems before they happen, dig deep for root causes, and implement solutions that prevent future occurrences
A natural team player who enjoys working multiple development collaboratively with colleagues
Focused on delivery with a passion for quality and innovation
Monitoring the babylon BI platform and responding to incidents 24x7x365
Ensuring our BI platform are fully-patched, highly-secure and available
Developing our automated tools to build and manage our global, BI platform
Build new environments as and when required
Manage new deployments of our BI platform
