This is a new role within our Partnerships Team to support the expansion and deepening of a portfolio of donor relationships and funding to enable Babylon to position itself and secure new business opportunities.
It is a busy team and the work has global social impact. One of our recent initiatives with a key partner, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, has led us to develop a full healthcare system in Rwanda. Since launching in 2016 two million Rwandans, almost a third of the population, have signed up.
We envisage the role to be 60% / 40% fundraising vs grant management based activities and our ideal candidate will come from an NGO / fundraising background with experience in international development fundraising.
You will be a hands on individual able to carry our message into companies such as Wellcome, USAID, Rockefeller amongst others.

Develop opportunities with a range of bi-lateral and multi-lateral donors, trusts and foundations and international development partners, including provision of donor intelligence and landscape mapping, networking and relationship development
Promote the contribution of digital health to increase universal health access in developing countries and Babylon’s thought leadership in this area
Proposal development including strategising with key teams to develop models/approaches to respond to opportunities including budgeting
Maintain an overview view of new funding opportunities and a pipeline of submissions
Design and implement a grant management system to ensure an effective and consistent approach to grant management
Lead on coordinating the production of timely and high-quality narrative and financial reports required by funders
Work with legal and finance teams to ensure grant management meets all donor compliance requirements, due diligence and safeguarding
Excellent knowledge of a range of bi-lateral and multi-lateral donors (inc. DFID, EU, UN, Nordics, etc) and global foundations, their priorities and ways of working
Proven ability to research new opportunities and provide analysis and recommendations including tracking and analysis of funding rules, requirements and positioning
Proven success in accessing high value funding – including grants and procurement contracts
Demonstrable experience of relationship building including ability to take the initiative in seeking and following up on prospects
Experience of negotiating with international implementing partners in consortia in response to funding calls
Able to analyse, prioritise and strategise donor information, feeding back on proposals, and advising/reporting to senior staff
Able to influence and convince colleagues on how/when to approach relevant donors
Excellent communication and presentation skills; experience in developing and delivering training and workshops
Excellent organisation skills and strong ability to effectively operate under high pressure environments and to tight deadlines
Contract management, project reporting and tracking, negotiations and financial management experience
Experience working in healthcare technology, artificial intelligence software or other disruptive technology an advantage
Qualifications / Skillset
Relevant post-graduate qualification or its equivalent
Significant business development experience in a development context
Experience of living and working internationally required
Fluency in English (written and spoken)
Ability and willingness to travel regularly – up to 25% of time
Comfortable working at a fast pace and balancing multiple deadlines
