The Unilink Group, provides services that help rehabilitation and more efficient running of prisons. It comprises four operating companies and has also offices in Australia, South Africa and the Netherlands in addition to the UK. The company is privately owned and focussed upon developing innovative technology for the justice sector including Police and prisons. Unilink is a world leader in prisoner self-service and offender management software. This has been demonstrated through independent evidence from York University which shows that the software contributes significantly towards rehabilitation in the prisons in the UK where it is operating today. Unilink was established in 1994. The Unilink Group now employs over 60 staff across four operating companies specialising in the Justice Sector and is currently active in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Europe. Unilink’s biometric self – service system is a world–leading product that works, here and abroad, safely, securely and efficiently. It allows prisoners to have some control over organising the things that matter to them a lot: visits, food and canteen shopping. It releases prison officers from administration to focus on working with prisoners. It creates back office efficiencies. It has huge educational and rehabilitative power. It has been at work for over a decade and is now in twenty prisons in the UK, including every outsourced prison, and at over a dozen in Australia. In 2016 Unilink won the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Innovation and in 2015 was awarded “Best Citizen App” and UK Digital Leader overall winner.
